Do you have a 2010 or 2011 2LT, 2SS or have the Connectivity Package such that you have the USB port in your console?? Have you EVER had any issues using it? I have, actually from DAY ONE, but I really didn't think it was an issue, just a QUIRK that GM messed up on. I use my USB ALL THE TIME. I have a 8 gig flash drive in the port at all times. When I get in my car and start it up, the system searchs for everything connected. Starting last week, it wouldn't find the flash drive like there wasn't anything in it, but there was. I was required to remove it and reinstall it, EVERYTIME, THEN it found it. The QUIRK I mentioned earlier was the fact that it would INDEX EVERY TIME, and I would be REQUIRED to go into the menu to set up the RANDOM SHUFFLE, AND every once in a while, the display would go blank and wouldn't reset till after I turned off the car and let it sit for a while. I called my local dealer and made an appointment to get it fixed, and then started doing RESEARCH. BOY OH BOY did I find an open can of worms!! This issue has been active with GM for almost TWO YEARS!! with no resolution....until resently. I found a thread on C5 that goes back to 9-28-10 and is still active!! I read EVERY page and it was currently 30 pages! after reading for nearly 2 hours, I found the answer, but had all the background info as well. There has been so many of our brothers/sisters that have been given the run around, pulling their hair out its not funny. As of MAY there was a TSB released, but it was not READILY AVAILABLE to the public, so that you could get your car fixed under warranty. REACENTY, one of our C5 buddues was able to get his hands on it and posted it.
YESTERDAY, I got off a little early ahnd went by my dealer armed with a copy of the TSB, and the p/n they will require. I first went by the parts counter and found out that they do NOT have one in stock, but can overnight it from Dallas. THEN I talked to the service manager....she informed me that is was their policy to have the problem diagnosed PROIR to ordering any parts....FORTUNATLY, one of their Techs was near and heard the whole story and he was reading the TSB I gave them, he piped in and ask if I had the car there, and I told his yes, he looked at his service manager and said, "IT WILL TAKE ME 8-10 SECONDS TO DO THIS, THEN YOU CAN ORDER THE PART AND GET IT IN HERE!" she looked at me and I told YEP, the car is right outside...she said PULL IT AROUND. I did, and the part got ordered, then the lady taht does all their scheduling for them (which I know) moved up my appointment to tomorrow and they will be installing a new PDIM thursday Morning.
to VERIFY that your car requires the upgraded PDIM, place a flash drive or connect ANYTHING to teh USB port, select it, then hold down the MENU button for 8-10 seconds and teh display will read and show you which Hardware (HW) adn Software (SW) version you have. Mine was version HW-CB SW-CC.....ws was WAY out of date.
The TSB # is PI0055B and the GM P/N# you will require to get it fixed the first time is #22797218.
IF your dealer tries to tell you the P/N is different they are WRONG!! some people have reported that their dealers had OUT DATED info at their dealership showing P/N's 20927509 or 20985421
I have the TSB in both WORD and in Acrobat and will bring some to the August Monthly meeting, as the file is too big to upload to the site.
I KNOW this post is a long one, so if anybody has any questions, contact me via PM.
