Black SS

I do not work for Road & Track and you will nver see me use the "M" word or "BMW".... I have owned both the 2011 SS and the 2011 CTS-V and even though there is no price comparison they both do appeal in different ways. I will share my opinion and what I have learned in my first 48 hrs as a CTS-V owner. I suppose you could say if GM could meld portions of both cars together for me it would be my perfect car.
Scoring is from 1-5
Appearance: +5 Camaro
I am still all Camaro to the bone. The look is clean and mean and the CTS-V still looks too much like ricer sedan to me but i am learning to live with it. I actually like the front end and grill but the rear and profile I can go either way....
Sound: +5 "my Camaro" (I miss my BORLA ATAK)
For having 550+ hp that CTS-V is silent. I do not believe a Caddie should have the same roar as my BORLA-SS so i am on the hunt for something that has an appropriate sound.
Power: +5 CTS-V
No question about it. It has a very firm throttle, and I liken it to the gun throttle on an old electric figure 8 race car track from when i was a kid.... Acceleration feels directly proportionate to gas peddle movement. With a 0-60 in the 3.9 to 4.1 range by the time you blink and look down at the dash your rounding 70 mph.
Amenities/Luxury: +5 CTS-V (with some exceptions)
How can i say draw? When you are finished reading you will understand.... Ill list the differences.
CAMARO... I loved my HUD and didnt realize how much i used it until it was gone. USB... my iPhone plugs in and works correctly with out a special cable. Switch blade key (I need a 12 step separation program). Bigger trunk (believe it).
CTS-V... A real NAV+XM Traffic, weather. RECARO seats OMG! User memory... Suede steering wheel and shifter knob. Humans can sit in the back seat.
Stare/GAWK Factor: +5 Camaro
The CTS-V is probably the biggest sleeper on the streets. If you pull the badges it looks about as threatening at a Honda Accord.... Unless you know what you are looking for most people do not even give it a second look.... Considering its a 550+HP SuperCharged beast.... it may still hold the title as worlds fastest production sedan... it did for a while.
The Camaro on the other hand is a pure attention getter. RS. SS... doesn't matter.
Ride: +5 CTS-V
CTS-V only gets this until the ZL! gets magnetic ride suspension and RECARO's.
So in reality the perfect car in my world would be a 4 door Camaro body, with the powerpant of the CTS-V (ZL1 will), a real navigation system, HUD, a back seat someone with legs can ride in, and RECARO seats....
This is the biggest puzzler for me personally. Why in the heck do i need a $45 cable for my iPhone 4 to work with my CTS-V radio when plugged into the USB... It is literally an AC-Delco assembly with an iPhone plug on one end and the other end has two wires... one it a USB plug and the other is the 2.5mm AUX jack... Have to plug both in for my iPhone to work. One would think the Caddie would be the one that would most easily integrate.....
So don't wish for a CTS-V too hard.... The Camaro still has most of the appeal to me.... i just needed two more doors and useable back seats.
