TX Caravan to Camaro5Fest - Houston Meet-Up Tentative Planning

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all........Happy New Year to all my Texas (and beyond) Camaro Buddies !!! I am sure all of you are just as excited about the 1st C5Fest as I am. I volunteered to be the contact person for the Houston connection for those coming through on April 15th. It looks like we will have people from South Texas, the San Antonio/Austin area, the Houston Metro area, plus 4 distant Camaro's merging in San Antonio on the evening of the 14th, all converging in Houston around noon on the 15th. My rough count based on the folks who committed via this thread is about 15 Camaro's. I am not sure if the gang from West Texas, the Panhandle, and the DFW Metro area will be coming through Houston or not? But if not, I think the plan will be for the Entire Texas Caravan to meet in Lafayette Louisiana (off IH-10) around 4:00 PM to regroup as the "Texas Caravan" and and head out to Biloxi. Would the interested parties please chime in and confirm the plans as best known today.

So back to the suggestions I have for the Houston meet. How about we plan on meeting off IH-10 around noon on the East Side of the city at a restaurant off the Federal road exit (just east of the IH-610 east loop). Immediately after exiting onto the eastbound service road, there are 4 eating establishments on the right in the same proximity (I think they are all connected in the same strip center). They are Pappas Seafood (my favorite), Chili's (ok), Salt Grass Steakhouse (good choice), and La Cantina (new TexMex- never tried yet). Once we select a restaurant, then I can see if I can get reservations for the group. It will be a great way to get to begin knowing each other.......so send me some feedback on my recommendations and your eating desires.

I know we have plenty of time and as we get the plans fine tuned, I can send out maps, menus, phone contact lists, etc. to make to event easier and more enjoyable. Any and all comments, corrections, and suggestions are appreciated.

So once again, enjoy the New Year and looking forward to a GREAT TURNOUT of TEXAS CAMARO's and an awesome trip and get together at the 1st Camaro5Fest in April.
