I believe I found the option to keep guest/unregistered user from sending PM's. I marked down what I changed just in case I need to change it back. I also changed the option so a guest/unregistered user can not use the email a friend option.

I'll make the PM's active once again and will give it another shot. As soon as anybody gets anything that looks like spam in there in box, let me know by posting it here and I will look into it.

I went to my in box after activating the PM's and I had one, but it is from 2 weeks ago. So disregard the old ones, but let me know if anything new shows up in your in box.

    Cross your fingers.

Default PM from Forum Administrator about viruses

I cleaned out my inbox yesterday.
This morning I found one from the "Forum Administrator". It said they detected that my computer had viruses. I currently use Kaspersky and my machine has always been working fine. I checked into the link out of curiousity and it leads to a scanning tool (System Security) and of course it shows results. The real hook comes in after using the scan tool and you want to delete the files that their tool says it found. But in order to proceed you have to pay $50.00 first to get a registration key to finish the install. The process won't let you go any further and to make matters even worse there is absolutely no uninstall option. It will continue to prompt you to delete the files until the fee is paid. The only way around this that I found was to do a restore and so far it is working fine. I even ran a update for Kasperky and then ran a complete scan. My machine was completely clean. This is a major scam and a trap especially for the novice computer user. Please beware of this message.

Now I feel even worse about missing the setting for that user group. I posted about this in several spots here on the forum hoping eveybody would see it and not think it was from the real Admin.

Just so everybody knows, You will never get anything like that from a real forum Administrator on any forum. They don't have anyway to tell if you have a virus on your computer unless they get an email from you that is infected. If that happens, I would think they would send you an email back.
